Work-Life Balance

Work Life Balance Blog Post image

Making people better isn’t easy. At Villa, we put our employees first because, as a company, we understand a happy team means better outcomes.  Working in the healthcare industry, where physical and mental strains can lead to employee burnout, it is important to take time to plan for a healthy work/life balance. Here are a few stress relieving tips that can help.

Unplug – In an age where we are all constantly connected, and our work lives blur together with our lives at home, planning time to disconnect can provide needed relief. If you are unsure how to start, try scheduling tech-free time. Stepping away from email and social media can be a refreshing and therapeutic. Build time to spend with your friends and family into your schedule.

Exercise – Finding time to work out can be a challenge, but even a little goes a long way. According to MayoClinic “Exercise in almost any form can act as a stress reliever. Being active can boost your feel-good endorphins and distract you from daily worries.”

Meditate – Mediation is easier than ever with apps like Headspace. Simply download the app on your mobile device, and plug-in for a relaxing session with a meditation expert. Never tried meditation before? Headspace offers a range of meditation experiences for first timers and veterans alike.

Try Something New – There are numerous therapeutic and relaxing experiences you can try. Not sure where to start? Groupon is a great way to search for spa packages at big discounts. Try searching for a massage or treat yourself by scheduling a facial.

Read a Book – Remember paper pages? For a time, I wrote off reading as a dated way of entertaining myself. Why read when we have YouTube and Netflix? As someone who uses technology constantly, distancing myself from my computer and picking up a book is an invaluable transportive experience.
